Overview

What occupancy analytics does for your site.

Occupancy Analytics measures how spaces are actually used: how many people are in an area, how long they stay, where queues form and how flow changes through the day. It is built from the same detection and tracking that powers alerts, so no extra sensors are needed.

Facilities, retail and operations teams use it to plan staffing, adjust layouts, manage capacity limits and understand which spaces are over- or under-used.

Space planning works better with a count than with a guess.

What it does

Occupancy Analytics, piece by piece.

Each part is configured around your cameras, zones and schedules — the same system, set up for the way your site runs.

  1. 01

    Occupancy levels

Live and historical counts by zone and by site, with thresholds that raise an alert when a capacity limit is reached.

  2. 02

    Queue monitoring

Queue length and wait time at checkouts, reception desks, gates and service points, with alerts when a threshold is crossed.

  3. 03

    Dwell time

Time spent in zones such as displays, waiting areas and work cells, to understand engagement and bottlenecks.

  4. 04

    Space utilisation

Utilisation of meeting rooms, floors and shared areas over time, for planning and for measuring the effect of changes.

In practice

Situations your team will recognise.

Commercial building circulation area with people walking through the entrance. Illustrative object detections.
01

Office occupancy review

Floor occupancy by hour over a month shows one floor rarely above half capacity. Desk allocation is consolidated and the trend is measured afterwards.

Retail store with shoppers near checkout and stocked aisles. Illustrative object detections.
02

Retail queue build-up

A checkout queue exceeds the threshold in the early evening. The alert prompts an extra till to open, and queue time is tracked in the weekly report.

University campus shared area with adult students. Illustrative object detections.
03

Crowd activity in a shared area

A campus common area approaches its configured capacity during an event. Facilities staff are notified and manage entry before the limit is reached.

Questions

Occupancy Analytics questions

Straight answers about how this is configured, what it needs and what it does not do.

01Does occupancy analytics count individuals?
It counts people in zones and crossings of lines. It is designed to measure use of a space, not to identify or track individuals across a building.
02How accurate are the counts?
Accuracy depends on camera placement and view. During setup we review each counting camera and, where needed, adjust position or zones before counts are relied on.
03Can occupancy limits trigger alerts?
Yes. Thresholds can be set per zone with an alert routed to the responsible team when a limit is approached or exceeded.
04Can we see occupancy across many sites?
Yes. Occupancy rolls up through the site hierarchy, so a regional view can compare utilisation by building.
